It's always a little bittersweet to see a long-running story finally come to a close, and that very thing is about to happen to Takuya Mitsuda's
Major in Japan.
You may recall Major hitting the news pages earlier this year when its latest anime series started, the sixth since its debut on television in 2004. An animated movie, Major: Yujo no Winning Shot, was released in 2008.
Mitsuda's manga, however, has been running for much longer, premiering in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994. Publisher Shogakukan confirmed it would be ending soon—after amassing 76 volumes—in the preview for this year's 31st issue of Sunday.
I'd love to get some Major action here in the states, but I suppose we'll always remain a little hungrier than most when it comes to sports-related material.
