As exciting as all the new licenses we hear about are, sometimes it's refreshing to see some classic stuff put back into the active retail roster. For those already duly titillated by such a statement, Diskotek Media are your heroes of the day.

Their latest licensing announcements on the anime front include the Galaxy Express 999 and Adieu Galaxy Express 999 movies, as well as the original Project AKO movie.

On the live-action side of things, we've got Princess Blade and Aquarian Age to look forward to.

I personally couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to own the 999 releases on DVD, two of my favorite movies. Anyone else out there pumped about Diskotek's announcements?

That is exciting, but it'd be even cooler if they'd release the series on disc as well. They really need to start re-releasing more classic series on DVD.

Same here! I was so pumped when I saw those two movies on the list.

I've been longing to hear the news about the two "Galaxy Express 999" movies on Region 1 DVD for a very long time. Too bad Viz Media (who last had North American distribution rights to those films) hasn't thought about doing this DVD release. For a long time, I was worried these two movies will never get the Region 1 DVD release due to the low amount of North America-based fans of Leiji Matsumoto's works.

This is news every Sci-Fi fan wanting to explore Anime in the past decades needs to check out.
