A Certain Magical Index Season 3 Announced for 2018

A Certain Magical Index 2018

Prepare to do some certain magical indexing.

It was confirmed this weekend the long-awaited third season of A Certain Magical Index will be hitting TV screens this next year.

It was also announced that season three of Index will be part of a year-long project, the “2018 A Certain Project.” A short trailer for that project was also unveiled.

During the announcement, the editor of Dengeki Bunko, Kazuma Miki, told the audience that the 2018 A Certain Project is “not just Index,” seeming to confirm the project will encompass other pieces of the franchise, such as A Certain Scientific Railgun (or something else entirely?).

Voice actors Atsushi Abe (Toma Kamijo) and Yuka Iguchi (Index) also appeared and confirmed they would be reprising their roles in season three of Index.

For those wondering what all the fuss is about, A Certain Magical Index is a series of fantasy light novels (and spinoffs of said novels) by Kazuma Kamachi that have been adapted into multiple anime series and films. The first two seasons (and film) were directed by Hiroshi Nishikori, but it has not yet been announced whether he will helm the third.

We’ll most certainly keep you up on all the details as they roll out.
