BCI Goes Kitano Krazy!

Yes, that’s crazy with a K, and this isn’t even about Mortal Kombat! Rather, it’s a tale of heroic DVD outfit BCI Eclipse (who have, in the past, released awesome DVDs like the Ultraman collections, among others) grabbing up more films by “Beat” Takeshi Kitano than you can possibly handle.

Though word had already gotten out about their acquisition of his classics Boiling Point and Violent Cop, further word was leaked that quickly boosted it to a really impressive roster: Fireworks, Getting Any?, Scene at the Sea, Kids Return and, most recent of the bunch, 2005’s Takeshis’.

If you’ve never seen a single Beat Takeshi flick, you owe it to yourself to check some of these titles whenever they drop (especially Fireworks AKA Hana-bi; one of my favorite movies of all time), the date of which we’ll be sure to keep you apprised upon the official announcement. A lot of these have seen the light of American shores before, but they could certainly use a DVD update, and BCI is more than qualified to give them the sheen that they deserve.
