Dr.STONE Anime Adaptation Premieres in July 2019

dr.stoneWriter Riichiro Inagaki and illustrator Boichi’s sci-fi adventure manga Dr.STONE is officially getting an anime adaptation, with Inagaki supervising the anime’s story and voice actor Yusuke Kobayashi (Subaru in Re:ZERO) in the lead role of Senku Ishigami. The series is currently set for a July 2019 premiere on TV in Japan.

Dr.STONE has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2017, and seven volumes have been collected thus far. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes it like so:

One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science- loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!
