First 8 Minutes of Hal Anime Film Streamed

Those who want an early peek at the upcoming anime film Hal need look no further than the movie section of Yahoo! Japan, which is now streaming the first eight minutes. There are no English subtitles, but it should give you a good idea of what to expect from the movie. It’s set to open in Japan on June 8.

Hal features the directorial debut of Ryoutarou Makihara, who previously worked on storyboard and episode direction on anime like Guilty Crown and The Tatami Galaxy. Attack on Titan‘s Wit studio is producing the film, with an original screenplay by Q10‘s Izumi Kizara.

The “near-future romance” story follows Kurumi, a girl who lost a boy she liked, Haru, in a plane accident. In his place now is a robot, “Robo Hal.”
