Free! Dive to the Future Teases 2020 Return for Franchise

Free! Dive to the Future Teases 2020 Return for Franchise It looks like the popular Free! series isn’t ending anytime soon.

The final episode of Free! Dive to the Future, the latest season of the series, ended with a frame that read “See You in 2020…”

The tease, of course, leaves it unclear whether Free!’s 2020 incarnation will be another series, movie, or something else entirely, but it seems fans definitely have some more swimming action to look forward to.

So here’s a wild theory: Tokyo will be hosting the 2020 Olympics, which will include various swimming competitions… is it possible Haruka and the boys will be repping Japan?

Here’s how Funimation describes Dive to the Future:

Your favorite swimming boys are back and ready to race towards their dreams! Haruka and Makoto are spending their first year in Tokyo attending college and working hard. But when Haru runs into a friend from long ago, memories of the past awaken! Meanwhile, Rin is working hard in Sydney and has his own unexpected meeting. What awaits the boys as they make waves toward the future?
