FUNimation Licenses Hellsing Ultimate OVA 8

The 8th OVA of Hellsing Ultimate, a much more entertaining take on Kouta Hirano’s manga, is finally coming to North America, along with the OVAs that precede it.

FUNimation announced the US home video rights to OVA 8 on Friday—having announced 5-7 back at Anime Expo 2010—so get ready to jump back into the world of Arucard and the ghouls and vampires against which he and the Hellsing organization must contend!

Production on the OVAs is kicking off at the original studio, New Generation Pictures, with Crispin Freeman reprising his role as Arucard. The home video releases will include exclusive extras such as panel discussions and one-on-one interviews, and FUNimation plans to start releasing the new OVAs in 2012.

FUNimation‘s synopsis:

Vampires are real, and it’s up to Hellsing, a secret organization led by Integra Hellsing, to keep the public safe from these unholy creatures of the night.  When the severity and frequency of vampire attacks begins to escalate, Hellsing may have more than it can handle, even with the help of its most powerful vampire—Arucard.  The Hellsing Organization must face not only regular ghouls and vampires, but a rivaling secret organization from the Vatican, and an enigmatic group of madmen, called Millennium, intent on destroying Arucard.
