With the news the Super Mario Bros. would be heading to the big screen, we forgot for a moment that Mario’s speedy blue rival has a head start.
The Hollywood take on Sonic the Hedgehog, announced back in 2014, will be released November 15, 2019, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film, which is being produced by Paramount, will be filmed using “a mix of live action and CGI.”
At the helm is first-time director Jeff Fowler, with a script from Pat Casey and Josh Miller (Golan the Insatiable). Executive producing is Deadpool producer Tim Miller.
On the small screen, Sonic and his pals have starred in the Cartoon Network series Sonic Boom since 2014. The third season will debut this summer.
