Katsuhiro Otomo is best known for his magnum opus Akira, but he’s created a large library of manga over the years. That includes Kibun wa mo Senso (The Mood is Already That of War), a collection of short stories he illustrated from 1980 to 1981.
Now Otomo is set to give that manga another go. Kibun wa mo Senso, written by Toshihiko Yahagi, will go back into action for a one-shot in Manga Action magazine April 16.
The original Kibun wa mo Senso traced a fictional war between China and the Soviet Union and three men who fight in that war. It was collected as a single volume in 1982, which appears to be out of print. Yahagi went on to create a sequel, Kibun wa mo Senso 2.1, with artist Kamui Fujiwara in the early 2000s.
Here’s hoping the revival will inspire a publisher to release the original (and the new one-shot) in English!
