Klonoa originally made his platforming debut on PlayStation in 1997, and now he’s getting ready to return in an anime film. Henshin, Inc. announced that it has optioned the property for an anime film based on Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, which will feature an original story based in the game’s world.

Rob Pereyda, who previously worked for Bandai Namco in classic franchise re-imagination, is producing the feature, and Hitoshi Ariga is writing, co-producing, and serving as lead character designer. Ariga’s credits include original character design for the Pokémon series, manga based on Mega Man and The Big O, the art on ShiftyLook’s Klonoa comic, and more.
