Magical Girl Series Ojamajo Doremi Returns for 2020 Film

Magical Girl Series Ojamajo Doremi Returns for 2020 FilmOjamajo Doremi, also known as Magical DoReMi, a magical girl series that ran from 1999 to 2003, is back. The series is getting a brand-new anime film to be released in 2020, announced this weekend at AnimeJapan. 

The film is titled Majo Minarai o Sagashite, which literally translates to “seeking magical apprentices.”

It will be staffed by the main crew of the original series, including director Junichi Sato, writer Midori Kuriyama, and character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi. Joining Sato on directorial duties is Yu Kamatani from PreCure.

In addition, a series of 26 Flash-animated Ojamajo Doremi shorts will hit Toei Animation’s official YouTube channel. The first is available now.

Finally, a series of events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the series is set to take place across the country. The first will be in Fukuoka on May 17.

The first season of Ojamajo Doremi was released in edited form in the US by 4Kids Entertainment in 2005 under the title Magical DoReMi.
