Mamoru Oshii’s Garm Wars Trailer Streamed

The first trailer for Mamoru Oshii’s new live-action film, Garm Wars: The Last Druid, is now online.

Garm Wars, the latest film from Oshii, director of Ghost in the Shell and Sky Crawlers, is described by its production group, Nakamura Group Advantage, thusly:

In a world where clone soldiers from three military tribes are locked in a perpetual battle of air, land and technology, one clone is separated from the battle and finds herself on the run with a group of unlikely companions.

Garm Wars was originally planned to be produced after Ghost in the Shell, almost 20 years ago, but was abandoned at that time due to technological restrictions. The Tokyo International Film Festival describes Garm Wars as using “Hybrid Animation, fusing pioneer CG and live-action technologies.”

The film was written by Oshii and screenwriter Geoffrey Gunn (Fangs of War) and stars Lance Henriksen (Aliens).

Garm Wars: The Last Druid will premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 25.
