My Hero Academia Cooks Up Spin-Off Manga and Big Announcement

Some big things are brewing for Kōhei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga, which is published in North America by Viz Media. First up is the reveal that a new spin-off manga from Hirofumi Neda, My Hero Academia Smash!!, is on the way to the Jump+ digital app and Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan.

That announcement is set for this year’s 48th issue of Jump, but it’s not alone. The issue also promises a “super super super important announcement” for the 49th issue, which ships in Japan on November 2. Other enthusiastic descriptors for the upcoming announcement include “shocking” and “seriously! Super surprising!!,” so it’s definitely going to be something big, one would assume.

The major announcement will be on an opening color page, so feel free to speculate. It seems most are predicting the seemingly inevitable anime adaptation announcement, which was further stoked when the advertising company of the TOHO Group recently registered the ‘HeroAca.com’ domain.
