Ni no Kuni Film Shows Off First Trailer, Joe Hisaishi Soundtrack

RPG series Ni no Kuni is getting its own anime film, and now we’ve got our first look at that film via a new trailer.

The film is about three high school students who are transported to a parallel universe where alternate versions of themselves reside. They learn that if their lives are connected: if one dies in the parallel universe, so do they.

Anime fans may remember Ni no Kuni because the PlayStation 3 version, Wrath of the White Witch, featured animation from Studio Ghibli.

The film version is not animated at Ghibli, but does feature some familiar names. It’s directed by Yoshiyuki Momose, who worked in various capacities on many Ghibli films. It also features music by Joe Hisaishi, who has composed the music for every Hayao Miyazaki film since Nausicaa. Hisaishi also worked on the Ni no Kuni games.

Ni no Kuni is animated at OLM, Inc. and is set to be released this summer.
