See One Piece’s Chopper as Imagined by Tokyo 2020 Olympics Mascot Designer

chopperMegahouse has big plans for the 15th anniversary of its Portait.Of.Pirates One Piece figure line, including a very special take on Straw Hat member Tony Tony Chopper. This colorful version of Chopper comes from Ryo Taniguchi, who recently designed Miraitowa and Someity, the pair of mascots for Tokyo’s 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Taniguchi says he’s been a fan of the manga since he was in third grade, and he still reads it every week. The figure’s design comes from an illustration he made that has Chopper absolutely decked out in sweets. Pre-orders are exclusive to MegaHouse’s MegaTrea Shop, Premium Bandai, Jump Characters Store, Toei Animation Online Store, and Mugiwara Store starting January 11 at 1:00pm Japan Time.

Chopper will run you ¥5,756 (about $53), with shipping scheduled for late May.
