Sword Art Online II Date Announced

Good news for Sword Art Online fans: the airdate for the second season of the show has been announced.

Well, air month, anyway. Sword Art Online II is set to hit screens this July.

The second season doesn’t appear to make any huge creative changes from the original: it’ll remain at A-1 Pictures with director Tomohiko Ito (Silver Spoon) at the helm.

As fans of the series may know, SAO is based on a series of light novels by Reki Kawahara (Accel World), who has so far written fourteen volumes. Season two of the anime is set to adapt volumes five and six, also known as the Phantom Bullet arc, which means the introduction of female sniper Sinon. Miyuki Sawashiro, who played Sinon in the Infinity Moment PSP game, will reprise the role in the anime. Continuity!

Fun Miyuki Sawashiro fact: she is fluent in English and played Petit Charat in both the Japanese and English versions of DiGi Charat.

So hold on SAO fans: you’ll have new episodes before you know it.
