Trailer Released for Sailor Moon Paris Stage Play

Back in 2016, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and French president Francois Hollande agreed to organize an event called Japonismes 2018 to celebrate 150 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and France. From July through February of next year, Paris is to host a showcase of visual and performing arts across Japan’s entire cultural history.

Such an event is apparently not complete without a new Sailor Moon stage play called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon The Super Live. This time choreography will be handled by Takahiro Ueno, known for his work with AKB48 splinter group Keyakizaka46. The show will actually run in Paris for 10 days in Tokyo at the end of August, before moving to Paris for its brief run November 3rd and 4th.

Last week, a trailer was released to give a peek at how the show’s visuals are turning out. You don’t get to see much action but it does give a sense of the play’s aesthetic.

Tickets to the Japan shows will cost 5,800 yen (about $53). Pricing for the Paris shows has not yet been announced.
