Urasawa’s Monster to Air on SyFy and Chiller this October

Viz announced earlier today that the anime based on Naoki Urasawa’s horror/suspense manga, Monster, will start airing on SyFy’s Ani-Monday block, beginning on October 12th. A new episode will play each Monday after that, and will then be rebroadcast on SyFy’s sister network, Chiller.

Sounds like a pretty good fit for the series, and perhaps it will even attract new readers to Urasawa’s original manga, which is released under Viz’s Signature label. It’s also rated TV-MA, so it would seem to be uncut, content-wise. We’ll all see come October, and who knows, this could open the floodgates for more mature anime on US television if successful.
