Ushio and Tora Creator’s Karakuri Circus Manga Gets Anime Adaptation

karakuri circusKazuhiro Fujita‘s Ushio and Tora manga received a fresh anime adaptation recently, with the full run spanning 39 episodes from July 2015 to June 2016. An “important announcement” was recently teased in Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, and that announcement turned out to be another animated take on one of Fujita’s series.

This time the series in question is Karakuri Circus, which ran in Shonen Sunday from 1997 to 2006 and accumulated 43 collected volumes.

The series follows fifth-grader Masaru Saiga, who wants to become a puppeteer. When his billionaire father passes away, though, Masaru inherits his fortune and is immediately targeted for his wealth. Kung fu practitioner Narumi Katō and puppet-controller Shirogane come to the rescue, and the three end up thrown into a series of situations thanks to their fortune-hunting adversaries.

There isn’t much more info on the anime adaptation, but the staff plans to host an audition for Masaru Saiga’s voice actor.
