Aniplex Teams With Software Maker Live2D to Produce Anime Film

Aniplex Teams With Software Maker Live2D to Produce Anime FilmAniplex, the production company behind anime like Devilman Crybaby and Fullmetal Alchemist, has acquired a majority stake in software developer Live2D with an eye toward producing a full-length anime feature film.

Live2D’s software is used to move 2D images in a 3D environment. According to their official website, “with Live2D, you can animate a character that you draw exactly as it is drawn” with no need for a 3D model. The software has already been used on a large number of anime and video games.

Aniplex’s Atsuhiro Iwakami was quoted as saying, “by supporting Live2D’s business while pushing its filmmaking technology forward, I am sure we will be able to create a brand-new kind of film.”

Here’s looking forward to whatever these two firms cook up.
