Atom the Beginning Opening Sequence a Treat for Sakuga Fans

If you’re a fan of high-quality cuts of animation, there’s a high chance you’re aware of Bahi JD, the Austrian animator who’s worked on several anime series and films, including Space Dandy, Kids on the Slope and Kabaneri.

The young animator has now made his directorial debut with the opening sequence for the just-premiered Atom the Beginning.

Among the 15 animators who worked on the opening sequence include Chikashi Kubota (One Punch Man), Bo Yu Wu (Kiznaiver), Kei Suezawa (Flip Flappers), Shingo Yamashita (Naruto Shippuden) and many more. That makes it a treat for the fans of high-quality animation sometimes called sakuga.

Atom the Beginning, which is a prequel to the legendary Osamu Tezuka manga and anime Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom), premiered on NHK April 15 and is being streamed on Amazon’s Anime Strike service.
