Attack on Titan Creator Casually Reveals Marriage on His Blog

Well, it’s time to kick off the new year with a hearty congrats to Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama.

Many manga authors are very private regarding their personal lives, but Isayama still keeps up with his own personal blog on Livedoor. His latest update included a major personal event, which he still managed to mention as casually as possible. It turns out this year wasn’t just big for Isayama due to the enduring popularity (and season three!) of Attack on Titan; he also got married.

In addition to listing off his favorite movies of 2018—with Bohemian Rhapsody, Hereditary, and Avengers: Infinity War—topping his personal charts, he added the following: “By the way, if I can take a moment to talk about myself, this year I got married. From now, with my significant other, I want to devote myself even more to being a manga creator!”

The identity of the significant other in question hasn’t been revealed, but Isayama went ahead and squashed some rumors. He added that the woman he married is not one of his former assistants, Arisa Yamamoto.

Beyond that, Isayama plans to continue drawing manga in 2019 as he approaches the climax he envisioned for Attack on Titan.
