Boom Boom Satellites to release new album

Japanese rock duo Boom Boom Satellites, known in the west for a number of contributions to popular anime and films, have announced the release of their first album in two years, entitled Embrace. The album will feature the single “Broken Mirror,” which was used as the theme song for episode five of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

The band, who have been together since 1990, will also embark on a Japan-wide tour to support the album, starting with a show in Tokyo in December before really kicking off in late January.

Boom Boom Satellites are best known among anime fans for their numerous soundtrack contributions. Aside from Gundam Unicorn, their music has also been featured in Appleseed, Vexille, Xam’d: Lost Memories and the recent Starship Troopers: Invasion. The band recently started selling their music internationally via iTunes.
