A Certain Scientific Accelerator Gets Anime, A Certain Scientific Railgun Gets Season Three

A Certain Scientific Accelerator Gets 2019 Anime, A Certain Scientific Railgun Gets Season ThreeThis is certainly some big news.

The long-awaited third season of A Certain Magical Index just started airing, but it looks like that’s just the tip of the Certain iceberg.

It’s now been revealed that A Certain Scientific Accelerator, one of the franchise’s many spinoffs, will be getting its own anime series in 2019.

Accelerator is an ongoing manga written by franchise creator Kazuma Kamachi. It’s been running since 2013, and is released in English by Seven Seas. Here’s how they describe it:

Welcome to a world where mysticism and science collide, and supernatural powers are derived from either science or religion. At the heart of this world is Academy City, an advanced metropolis whose population is comprised mostly of students. The majority of students are enrolled in the city’s “Power Curriculum Program,” where they must learn to master their latent psychic powers.

That’s certainly huge news, but there’s more: A Certain Scientific Railgun will be getting a third season.

The Magical Index spinoff has so far received two seasons, the latest of which aired back in 2013. Here’s how the Crunch describes it:

Misaka’s electro-manipulation abilities—and delightfully destructive Railgun projectile move—make her a rock star in Academy City. The techno-metropolis is packed with supernaturally powered students known as espers, including Misaka’s flirty friend and roommate, Kuroko. In this city full of super-powered gangs, mad scientists, and monsters—there’s no shortage of action!

It’s certainly a good time to be a fan.
