Promare, the new new film from the folks behind Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill, is set to hit Japanese theaters within days. To build up excitement, the PR team behind the film is streaming the first five minutes of the movie—and man, they are a pretty pulse-pounding five minutes.
The opening scene explains—with almost no dialogue—the premise behind the film; namely, that one day, a certain percentage of the population literally explodes in anger, creating a huge problem for the world at large. We also see how the world deals with this problem in the intervening 30 years, then finally meet the fire-fighting team called Burning Rescue who serves as Promare’s main characters.
Promare is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima and produced by Studio Trigger—in other words, the guys who brought us Kill la Kill. It hits Japanese theaters May 24.
