Chrono Trigger’s Composer and Scenario Writer Working on Mobile Game

GREE, one of the largest mobile game platforms in Japan, announced a new RPG called Another Eden this weekend at Tokyo Game Show 2015. Described as a “time travel adventure game”, it’s scheduled to launch in the spring of 2016.

Chrono Trigger scenario writer Masato Kato appeared on stage at the presentation, and is to write the scenario for Another Eden. Yatsunori Mitsuda, the composer responsible for the scores of the Chrono Trigger and Xenosaga series, is working on the game’s opening theme. Director and producer Daisuke Taka and voice actress Mie Sonozaki are also involved in the project.

The game will feature time travel between three periods (past, present, and future) and “day and night” will be a central theme (maybe a Ocarina-esque day/night cycle?) The development team promises that despite being a mobile game, Another Eden will be a tradition RPG, eschewing typical mobile social functions such as login bonuses and friend features.
