Evangelion HD Remaster Makes Its Japanese Broadcast Debut

The current HD remaster of Gainax’s classic Neon Genesis Evangelion anime is typically relegated to streaming service Netflix, but it’s going to get some temporary freedom in Japan next month.

Folks who live in the Kanto region will soon be able to watch the series in all its remastered glory starting January 3 on TV Saitama, followed by Sunday nights on TV Kanagawa starting January 5 and Thursday nights on Chiba TV starting January 9.

This will be the first time for the remaster to be broadcast on TV for free viewing. Naturally, this is all building up to the long-awaited theatrical debut of the Evangelion 3.0+1.0 anime film, which finally hits cinemas in Japan in June.
