FUNimation Adds Axis Powers Hetalia, Three Others

Is this it? Has the 2010 Roll-Out Riot come to a close with the end of the week? If that’s the case it’s done so with a bang, as FUNimation’s latest announced acquisition is Axis Powers Hetalia, a wildly popular anime series that mixes moe with broad cultural stereotypes. Chances are many of you out there like at least one of those two things (I mean, come on, who doesn’t appreciate Punch-Out‘s application of the latter?).

Also announced were the acquisitions of the video game-based Master of Martial Hearts (Zettai Shougeki ~Platonic Heart~), Media Factory’s Jyushin Enbu Hero Tales, and The Sacred Blacksmith, an action series based on Isao Miura’s light novels.

It should be especially interesting to see how well Hetalia does on our shores in its two-part domestic release. The series, which started as a webcomic, has developed quite the following since its debut.

As for when you’ll be able to get your hands on these: Master of Martial Hearts is dated for Spring 2011, with both Sacred Blacksmith and Jyushin Enbu Hero Tales scheduled for Fall 2010. Hetalia‘s release date is simply listed as late 2010.

And with that, FUNimation has taken over the front page of news for the time being!
