Keiichi Hara’s Birthday Wonderland Film Gets New Clip

The latest film from Keiichi Hara (Miss Hokusai), Birthday Wonderland, is set to hit Japanese theaters April 26.

To get the word out, Warner Bros Japan is streaming a clip from the film featuring the characters Zan Gu (Keiji Fujiwara) and Doropo (Akiko Yajima).

Birthday Wonderland (which apparently, says ANN, is also called The Wonderland) is based on a 1988 children’s book from Sachiko Kashiwaba.

The film centers around a girl with no self-confidence named Akane who sets out on a journey to save the world. Akane is played by actress Mayu Matsuoka in her first anime role.

Aside from Miss Hokusai, Hara is known for Colorful, Summer Days with Coo and as the lead director for many years on the Crayon Shin-chan series.
