In the wake of the arson that left 35 employees of Kyoto Animation dead, the future of the studio’s many previously-announced projects is unclear. But one project confirmed to be coming out without delay is Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll.
The “side story” to series Violet Evergarden hits Japanese theaters for a three-week engagement September 6. The first trailer for the project was revealed today, as were some additions to the cast.
In addition to the voice actors returning from the series, the side story will also star Minako Kotobuki as Isabella York and Aoi Yuki as Taylor Bartlett. The story centers around Isabella, the heir to a noble house who is taught manners by Violet Evergarden.
This is a separate project to the full-length film which was set to hit theaters January 10, 2020. The fate of that film is not yet clear.
