Macross Delta To Premiere April 3

Macross Delta, the latest series in the long-running Macross series and the first in eight years is set to debut this April 3 on Tokyo MX.

Delta, which is set eight years after the events of Macross Frontier, follows a female idol group called Walküre and a group of pilots called Delta Squadron who are battling a phenomena known as the Var Syndrome.

Kenji Yasuda (Noein) will serve as the director of the series, with Macross creator Shoji Kawamori providing chief direction, mechanical design and scripts alongside Toshizo Nemoto (Log Horizon).

As with Macross Frontier, the production team behind Delta held auditions to choose an unknown to play one of the main roles, resulting in 18-year-old winner Minori Suzuki playing Walküre wannabe Freyja Wion.

Because of Macross’ complicated rights issues, it is unclear whether Delta will receive an official streaming or home video release in the U.S. In any case, here’s looking forward to April 3.
