There’s a new magical girl series on the way—and based on its new visual, no one would blame you for thinking it was Madoka Magica-related.
But it’s actually Machikado Mazoku, an unrelated series based on the manga of the same name by Izumi Ito. The manga is about a 15-year-old girl named Yuko Yoshida who, it turns out, is member of a demon tribe locked in eternal battle with magical girls. Yuko fights one of those magical girls, Momo Chiyoda, and, in a twist, the two become friends.
Today we learned Yuko Yoshida will be played by Konomi Kohara, while Momo Chiyoda will be played by Akari Kito.
We also learned the series will be directed by Hiroaki Sakurai (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.) with series composition from Keiichiro Ochi (Hinamatsuri) and character designs from Mai Otsuka (Non Non Biyori). The series will be animated at J.C. Staff and hit screens July 11.
