Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering With You Anime Film to Premiere Opening Scene Early

Fans of director Makoto Shinkai will soon get to see some of his next film a little early in Japan. Weathering With You is set to open in Japanese theaters on July 19, but the opening scene will be broadcast live on Twitter and AbemaTV on June 30.

The scene will run during a rebroadcast of Shinkai’s your name. anime film, with the timing of the clip set for 8:45pm Japan Time. The stream will also include appearances by the main cast members of both your name. and Weathering With You.

If you’d rather wait until the full film makes its way to English theaters, GKIDS will be distributing it in early 2020 after an awards-qualifying run this year.

Description:

The summer of his high school freshman year, Hokoda runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits.
