New Dragon Ball Manga to Focus on Goku’s Mom

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama plans to explore more of where Goku came from in an upcoming manga. He’s already tackled Goku‘s father, Bardock, in Episode of Bardock, and now Toriyama plans to turn to the tale of Goku’s mother.

The manga is set to make its debut in a compilation of Toriyama’s Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga. Goku’s gentle-natured mother, whose name is Gine, fights alongside Bardock as part of a team of four Saiyans. The feelings she and Bardock develop for one another are alien to Saiyans, and it results in her being assigned to a meat distribution center.

The Jaco the Galactic Patrolman collection that includes the Gine story hits shelves in Japan on April 4.
