New Gintama Anime Set for April 8

A new TV anime is on the way for Hideaki Sorachi’s action-comedy manga Gintama, and TV Tokyo’s official website announced a start date this week. The series will premiere on April 8 at 6:00pm Japan Time, and will feature the TV anime directorial debut of Chizuru Miyawaki, who is currently associate director for Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!

Yoichi Fujita, who directed over 100 episodes of the previous Gintama series, will be supervising Miyawaki. Other staff includes character designer Shinji Takeuchi, sound supervisor Katsuyoshi Kobayashi, and sound director Shinji Takamatsu, with animation production by Sunrise.

Four-member rock band BLUE ENCOUNT will perform opening song “DAY x DAY,” while four-member all-girl band Negoto will take on the ending song, “DESTINY.”
