Piano no Mori: The Perfect World of Kai Gets Anime Series Adaptation

Piano no Mori: The Perfect World of Kai

Makoto Isshiki’s manga Piano no Mori: The Perfect World of Kai will get an anime series adaptation in April of 2018.

Piano no Mori will run on national broadcaster NHK, who will hold a competition this year to select the pianists who will play the piano scenes in the series.

The manga, which ran from 1998 to 2015, is about two classmates from very different backgrounds who bond over playing a mysterious piano in a forest. It was voted one of Japan’s best music manga in 2014.

Piano no Mori was previously adapted into an anime film in 2007 directed by Masayuki Kojima (Made in Abyss) and animated at Madhouse. That film featured piano performances by Vladimir Ashkenazy.
