Pompo: The Cinephile Anime Film Opens in 2020Pompo: The Cinephile (Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san), the manga about a cute-looking B-movie producer, is getting the film treatment.

The theatrical anime adaptation is set to hit screens in 2020, we learned today. We also got a look at the visual style of the film via its first poster.

Pompo will be directed by Takayuki Hirao, who helmed the fifth Garden of Sinners movie and God Eater. It’ll be animated at CLAP and feature character designs by Shingo Adachi.

Pompo’s full name is Joelle Davidovich Pomponette, and she produces B-level entertainment films. The story kicks off when she suggests her assistant, Gene, direct her latest screenplay.

The manga is written by Shogo Sugitani. It launched on Pixiv in 2017
