The Rising of the Shield Hero Leads Japan’s Winter 2019 Anime Rankings

No matter what you think of the series itself, it’s tough to deny the outright popularity of The Rising of the Shield Hero. The anime adaptation of Aneko Yusagi’s light novel series is currently comfortably seated at the top of mobile phone operator NTT Docomo’s popularity rankings for Winter 2019 anime, the survey for which was conducted between January 25 and February 1.

In total, 63,688 votes were cast, breaking the respondents down into 43,561 male, 16,843 female, and 3,284 other. See how the most popular series shook out below.
