Studio Deen to Produce Original Anime About Oda Nobunaga

Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga If you’re interested in Japanese history (or have watched much historical anime), you’ve probably heard of Oda Nobunaga, one of the three men credited with unifying Japan.

Studio Deen is set to produce an original anime series based on the life of Nobunaga, it was announced today.

The series, which is called Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga, is set for summer 2019, and will be staffed by some of the folks who brought us Hakuoki. That’s character designer Atsuko Nakajima, script supervisor Ryota Yamaguchi and screenwriter Megumu Sasano.

It’ll be directed by Noriyuki Abe (Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach).

Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga will begin with Nobunaga’s youth, and depict his rivalry with brother Nobuyuki (also a real-life historical figure—google him for some serious spoilers!).

There’s no shortage of anime, games and films featuring Nobunaga, but we’re always excited to see another take on the myth, the man, the legend.
