Subtitled US Premiere of First Gurren Lagann Film at AX

The first of the two Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann films, which also goes by the name of Guren-hen (Gurren Chapter), may have debuted sans subtitles at Fanime last month, but those looking to soak in the experience with English subs need to turn toward LA’s Anime Expo. Aniplex announced that it will be screening the subtitled theatrical remake at AX on July 2nd.

Adding to that is the presence of the film’s director and character designer, Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Re: Cutie Honey) and Atsushi Nishigori, as guests of honor. This North American premiere comes just a few months shy of a year after the movie’s opening in Japan. Hopefully some of you attending the convention will get a chance to check it out.
