Trilogy of Madoka Magica Anime Films on the Way

There was a bit of confusion on Monday about whether or not a Puella Magi Madoka Magica film was truly on the way, but Newtype has since confirmed the matter, specifying that it will be a trilogy.

The first two films in the trilogy will be a retelling of the TV series, and the third will be a completely new story. This brings to an end some very back-and-forth information yesterday, including one from the Japanese HMV Anime Twitter account in which they initially apologized for posting what they thought was unconfirmed information on the film(s).
