Vinland Saga Manga is About to Dive into Lengthy Final Arc

Makoto Yukimura’s Vinland Saga manga has been running since 2005, and it’s gone through three arcs in the process. It’s currently enjoying an awesome anime adaptation by Attack on Titan‘s Wit Studio, all while the author is hard at work cooking up the source material’s final arc.

Does that mean the series is ending soon? Not quite. While Yukimura hopped on Twitter to say he’s now working on the fourth and final arc, he added that it will be over 50 chapters long and take up over a thousand pages. Thus, as he puts it, it will take “several years” to wrap up completely.

Kodansha publishes Yukimura’s manga in English. Here’s their synopsis:

Thorfinn is son to one of the Vikings’ greatest warriors, but when his father is killed in battle by the mercenary leader Askeladd, he swears to have his revenge. Thorfinn joins Askeladd’s band in order to challenge him to a duel, and ends up caught in the middle of a war for the crown of England. From the creator of the classic Planetes manga comes this epic, highly-anticipated tale.
